About Plant Medicine:

Why choose plant medicine?

Indigenous cultures have used sacred plant medicine for centuries due to its therapeutic and healing properties. Here are some of the benefits associated with it:

Physical healing — Research studies have demonstrated that many plant medicines possess physical healing properties. For instance, Ayahuasca can treat various physical ailments, including digestive issues, respiratory problems, and chronic pain.

Emotional healing — Sacred plant medicine can also be effective in addressing emotional issues. Several plant-based treatments, including Psilocybin mushrooms, have been shown to be effective in treating conditions such as depression and anxiety.

Spiritual growth — Working with plant medicine can facilitate spiritual growth and transformation. For centuries, these plants aided shamanic practices helping individuals connect with the divine and delve deeper into themselves.

Greater empathy and compassion — Engaging with sacred plant medicine can promote greater empathy and compassion towards others. Many indigenous cultures view all living things as interconnected and use plant medicine to reflect this perspective.

Increased self-awareness — Plant medicine can help individuals gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their place in the world. This heightened self-awareness can lead to personal growth and a greater sense of purpose and fulfillment.

In conclusion, plant medicine provides a holistic approach to healing and personal growth that addresses physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. However, it is important to approach the use of these plants with caution and work with trained and experienced guides to ensure a safe and positive experience.

Is plant medicine safe?

At INME, we prioritize the safety and well-being of our clients. Before attending a plant medicine retreat, we conduct comprehensive medical and psychological evaluations to determine if it’s suitable for you. Each plant medicine has unique physical and psychological effects, and our team will work with you to find the best fit based on your individual needs.

For instance, Ayahuasca isn’t for everyone and there may be contraindications or risks for certain individuals. It can be physically intense, so we advise participants to make dietary changes at least two weeks before the retreat. Our team will provide guidance and support throughout the process to ensure you are prepared and comfortable.

Our experienced facilitators and medical professionals are available to support you through any challenges or difficulties that may arise. We aim to create a safe environment that allows you to fully immerse yourself in the transformative potential of plant medicine.

What is happening from a neurological perspective and where do the breakthroughs come from?

As we age, our thought patterns tend to become more rigid and less adaptable over time. Our responses to the world around us become automatic, and our cognitive abilities become less flexible and more predetermined. Think about that friend or family member who always responds to information or news in the same predictable way.

This hardwiring, or loss in neuroplasticity is happening to most people, and research has shown that the strength of our Default Mode Network (DMN) plays a crucial role. Given the amount of stimulus and the complexity of the world, our DMN simplifies and automates our response to what our brains come to consider an overwhelming amount of information. While some people see this as necessary and efficient, others consider it a loss of human potential.

Plant medicine offers an opportunity to gain valuable insights into our own cognition by temporarily quieting the DMN and unlocking new pathways of self-awareness and understanding. This experience reconciles the different components of our brains and allows us to expand our states of consciousness. fMRI scans have shown that under the influence of plant medicine, the neurology of an individual looks similar to that of a practiced monk who has meditated for over 20,000 hours. Plant medicine, in a way, unlocks a gateway and lights a path to enhanced and broader states of awareness that can be accessible to everyone.

Plant medicine can offer temporary experiences that help people see how to improve their lives and often leads to adopting contemplative practices for sustainable benefits.

Could there be unpredictable consequences?

By following our recommended preparations for the ceremony, all risks are reduced to zero. Additionally, we have a medical doctor on-site at all times to ensure that all of our participants are safe, and a well-thought-out risk management protocol, so you can feel relaxed and trust the process fully.

Do you prioritize the safety of guests who attend your retreats?

Ensuring the safety of our guests is our top priority. We believe that by improving safety standards, we can make this work more accessible to those who need it the most. Safety is our focus in two important areas:

Physical safety: Our retreat locations are secure, and we have easy access to medical care/services in case of any emergency. With a medical doctor on-site, we have the ability to deliver a more nuanced level of care and make recommendations that are tailored to the unique needs of each participant.

Psychological safety: We understand the importance of education, preparation, intention setting, and a feeling of safety and comfort for our guests. We pay special attention to your psychological safety and emotional well-being before, during, and after the retreat to ensure that you have a positive experience.

Do you have any Age Restrictions?

To participate in our retreats, you must be at least 21 years old.

Is it possible to attend with my Partner/Friend/Family Member?

Yes, we do recommend participating with someone that is very close to you. However, it’s essential to understand that the work we do is an individual process, and every participant has a unique experience. Therefore, during the ceremony, we suggest that you don’t sit next to each other to prevent interference with each other’s experience.

Planning for a Retreat:

What should I expect from a retreat?

When attending an INME Wellness retreat, you can expect a transformative journey of self-discovery and spiritual awakening. Our experienced facilitators and healers will be with you every step of the way, providing support and guidance as you explore the potential of plant medicine.

Our retreats take place at one of our luxurious villas in picturesque locations in Europe, surrounded by nature with breathtaking views of the mountains, gardens, sea, and/or lakes. You’ll enjoy delicious and nutritious meals made from locally-sourced, high-quality ingredients. Our programs include carefully crafted workshops and integration activities designed to deepen your connection with yourself.

We understand that preparing for and integrating the experience is just as important as the retreat. That’s why we provide guidance to help you prepare mentally, emotionally, and physically before the retreat, and offer integration support afterward helping you incorporate the knowledge and experiences acquired during the retreat into your everyday life.

How to find the right retreat for me?

Plant medicine retreats have become increasingly popular in recent years as people seek alternative forms of healing and spiritual growth. However, with so many retreats available, it can be challenging to find the right one that meets your needs. Here we would like to outline some key factors to consider when searching for the right plant medicine retreat.

The first step in finding the right plant medicine retreat is to determine your goals and intentions.
What do you hope to achieve from the experience?
Are you looking for healing from a physical or emotional ailment, or are you seeking spiritual growth and transformation?
Understanding your goals will help you to narrow down your search and find a retreat that aligns with your needs.

Once you have identified your goals, it is essential to research the different retreat options available. You can begin by searching online, reading reviews, and reaching out to others who have attended similar retreats. It is important to ensure that the retreat you choose is reputable and led by experienced and trained facilitators. Look for retreats that have a proven track record of success and positive reviews from previous participants.

Another important factor to consider is the location and setting of the retreat.
Do you prefer a remote location in nature or a more urban setting?
Consider the climate, culture, and overall environment of the retreat location to ensure that it aligns with your preferences and needs. It is also important to consider the length of the retreat and whether it fits within your schedule.

The type of plant medicine used in the retreat is another critical factor to consider. Different plant medicines have different effects and benefits, so it’s essential to choose a retreat that aligns with your goals. Ayahuasca, for example, is commonly used in plant medicine retreats and is known for its spiritual and emotional healing properties. San Pedro cactus is another plant medicine that is used for its ability to promote personal growth and transformation.

It is essential to choose a retreat that provides adequate support during and after the retreat. This ensures the successful integration of the experience into your life.

In conclusion, finding the right plant medicine retreat requires evaluating your goals, researching reputable retreats, and considering location and setting. It is also important to check the type of plant medicine used, as well as the support and aftercare provided. By considering these factors, you can find a retreat that aligns with your needs and helps you achieve your goals.

What do I need to know before I apply?

You need to know if you are ready for a retreat which is why we suggest taking our readiness quiz as the first step. It has been developed with input from a medical doctor, psychiatrist, and psychotherapist. The screening process helps us identify any conditions or contraindications that may prevent your safe participation or disrupt group coherence.

Our retreats are suitable for those seeking personal transformation, connection with self & nature, improved relationships, and spiritual growth.

Please note that we do not make any medical or therapeutic claims regarding our retreats or programming. Our quiz does not intend to diagnose, provide medical advice, or offer treatment solutions. However, for your safety and that of other participants, we may determine that you are not ready to participate.

Are Transportation and Airfare Included?

Airfare is not covered, but we can provide assistance for round-trip transportation to and from the nearest international airport on the scheduled arrival and departure days. Participants are welcome to arrange their own travel to fit their specific pre- or post-travel plans.

Can I participate in just a retreat without enrolling in the full program?

No. We require all participants to complete our preparation and integration program in order to ensure their safety and facilitate meaningful transformation. The program starts three weeks before the retreat and extends three weeks after it, with weekly virtual community sessions. We provide personal and logistical preparation activities and integration practices to support the process.
Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns about participating in the program fully.

How does your refund policy work?

If you cancel your participation in the retreat before 60 days of the start date, you can get a refund for the program fee (excluding the non-refundable deposit). The deposit can be used for a future program within 12 months from the date of cancellation. We’ll offer a full refund if the retreat is canceled due to border closures in the country where it’s located.

Can you accommodate guests with dietary limitations or requests?

If you have special dietary requirements or restrictions, we will make every effort to accommodate your needs. Please inform us of any such requirements at least 2 weeks prior to your program start date.

What are the essential things to bring to the retreat?

When packing, remember to bring essential items such as a beach-towel, camera, water bottle, and socks. Don’t forget your special medication, sunscreen, sun hat, swimsuit, and natural bug repellent. Also, we suggest packing a light rain jacket, hiking sandals, and comfortable clothes for the ceremonies.

If you wish, you may also bring:
– Sacred objects such as crystals or essential oils, which the Taita can bless during ceremonies.

– A photo of a family member or friend suffering from a severe mental or physical illness. The Taita will offer distance healing during the ceremony.
